Abstract: Sapindus mukorossi is a deciduous arbor of the soapberry family, Sapindaceae.It has numerous applications and is widely distributed in Southern China, Taiwan and Southeast Asia.To further promote its industrialization and R&D, this article summarizes recent progress on the germplasm resource, genetic diversity, cultivation, forest planting, as well as the saponin and seed oil separation and extraction technology of S.mukorossi.Moreover, recommendations for further studies on breeding, propagation, saponin biotechnology and oil extraction are presented.
