Abstract:
The mouthpart morphology of two saprophagous phorid flies, Megaselia spiracularis Schmitz and Diplonevera peregrina (Widemann) (Diptera:Phoriae) were examined with digital photography microscope system. The results showed that the two kinds of typical sponging mouthparts were different from each other in shape of perstomal teeth, numbers of pseudotracheae, sensilla, etc, which suggested difference in their feeding function.Sexual dimorphism was observed in the mouthparts of both the two species.
