Abstract: Rice is the staple food for a quarter of population in the world.The current situations on the definition of combining ability and heritability of hybrid rice were reviewed in the paper.In the meanwhile, the progress on combining ability and heritability of mainly agronomic traits and so on.Furthermore, the progress on combining ability and heritability of quality for hybrid rice were analyzed systematically.At the last the status on combining ability, heritability for rice were analyzed and progressed.In conclusion, some new idea was provided for hybrid rice research based on the relative references in the future.
