Abstract: A new Chinese milk vetch (Astragalus sinicus) cultivar Mingzi No.1 ,which was bred by using systematic selection,has fast-growing,early blooming and late maturing characteristics.In comparison with the check plant,its fresh straw weight and seed yield increased 20% and about 30% respectively.Also Mingzi No.1 gave better seed quality.The new cultivar suits to double crop system of rice.The high-yielding practices involve the suitable sowing period,density and early application of P,K fertilizer,well-arranged draining and irrigating ditches,the control of pests and diseases.In the fields for harvesting seeds,increasing B and Mo fertilizers and spraying palcobutrazol (MET) as well as suitable harvesting time are suggested.
