Abstract: Loquat(Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) originated from China is a well-known,characteristic tree species.The rich resource of loquat germplasm in the nation provides an excellent foundation for genetic and production improvements.This review covers recent advancement in the biotechnology applications,including cell engineering and molecular markers,for loquat germplasm studies.Current issues and direction for future research were also discussed.
