Gene Chips for Expression of Stress-tolerant Genes in Rice

  • Rice(Oryzae sativa) is one of the most important crops in the world.It is the staple for more than 50% of the global population.Adversity stress is one of the main reasons for the rice to suffer a poor yield.To improve the resistance to stress in rice,it is necessary to firstly understand its mechanism.Many laboratories in China and abroad are indeed working on it.However,due to the highly complex nature,no single gene study can be expected to reveal the entire mechanism in plants.Currently,the technology of gene chips might offer a new tool for the studies of the genes expression and regulation associated with the stress resistance.Recent progress in the application is summarized.
