  • The genetic character of soluble solid content in melon was studied with half-diallel crosses. The results showed that the additive effects and the dominant effects of genes on soluble solid content were significant, but the additive effects were predominated and the value of the narrow heritability was 65%.The distribution of genes controlling the trait was unsymmetrical. The trait was controlled by the dominant genes, but it showed incomplete dominance. The F4 was preferable generation selected the genetic character.
