Abstract
A protein family with relatively conserved sequences, MADS-box participates in a series of plant development processes by combining CarG CC(A/T)6GG elements to regulate the expression of downstream genes. There are 76 such genes in rice plants. This article summarizes the functions and mechanisms of MADS-box genes involved in regulating rice floral organ development, flowering time, vegetative growth, and stress responses to aid future studies in the areas of molecular regulatory network and MADS-box families of other species
